Throughout the entire summer i/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f there鈥檚 something I鈥檝e learned, it鈥檚 to always try and /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/find the light even in the darkest times.

COVID-19 has de/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/finitely taken a toll. This pandemic has caused many to lose their jobs, their homes, and their lives. We all hope /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/for a vaccine soon, in the hopes that this virus can be brought under control. In the meantime, many o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f us have been practicing personal hygiene and social distancing to avoid getting in/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fected.听

听听听听听听听听听听听听The virus has impacted my li/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fe mentally. For the /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/first three months I was worried and irritated with how this virus was being handled. I thought /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/for sure that this virus would in/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fect me and my /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/family. Every time I spoke about it I was told to just practice personal hygiene and social distancing. Over the summer I used my /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/free time to work on my mental health. Be/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fore I returned home /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/from campus, my anxiety was at its peak. Realizing how anxious I was I wanted the /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/feeling o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f panic to end.听

So, I started going to group therapy. I attended several di/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/ferent programs. All o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f them revolved around understanding anxiety and how to deal with it (link to a group I attended below). Throughout these three months, I developed a new relationship with my anxiety. This program taught me to detect early signs o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f a panic attack be/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fore it even occurs. The group therapist gave us use/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/ful tools to use when we /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/feel our anxiety levels rising. Tools such as ten connected breaths and two minute imageries have helped me better control my anxiety. I /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/feel very grate/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/ful /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/for this result because I was patient with mysel/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f and completed my homework; which was to practice the imageries and ten connected breaths. There are plenty o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f other tools to use in order to combat a panic attack, but these are the ones that worked /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/for me.

Being at home the entire summer also motivated me to exercise more. During my /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/freshman year I barely worked out and I noticed how that a/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fected my mood. Exercise not only helps me stay healthy and in shape, but it also helps me stay in a positive mindset. For three months I did Zumba and Yoga every week. Besides /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/feeling happier I noticed that I was in better shape physically. Given the circumstances o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f the Pandemic, I was in lockdown /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/for a month. I knew that I had to /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/find a way to stay healthy without going to a gym, so I decided to work out at home. My body physically changed a/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fter exercising so much and I'm happy with the result.听

In the past month, the pandemic hit some o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f my /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/family members pretty hard. Both /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/financially and emotionally my /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/family was a/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fected. I am /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fortunate to have such a caring and generous /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/family who will step up and help anyone in need. It鈥檚 tough seeing some /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/family members struggling mentally and emotionally, though. Especially with a pandemic, previous /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/feelings o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f anxiety and depression are ampli/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fied. Even though it hurts me to see my /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/family going through di/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/ficult times, I try to do my part to help. Through this experience I've learned that having someone that will listen to you and com/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fort you is one o/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f the greatest gi/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/fts to have.听

Throughout the entire summer, i/thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/f there鈥檚 something I鈥檝e learned, it鈥檚 to always try and /thrive/students/thrive-thursdays/pandemic/find the light even in the darkest times.
