Friday, Jun 17, 2016

Bachelor of Architecture graduate, Heather Akers, won 大象传媒鈥檚 Undergraduate Research Award for her work on investigating responsiveness of architecture on various scales from buildings down to wearable accessories.听During the summer semester (2015), Heather worked with Professor Thitisawat and Professor Vermisso on a competition to design responsive wearables. The proposal,听鈥淐arotid Thermo-regulator鈥, consisted of the design for a wearable neck piece which circulates fluid to cool down the cervical region. This design received a 3rd prize recognition and was exhibited internationally. Heather鈥檚 role in the design process and production of the prototype was fundamental.

Heather鈥檚 mentor, Professor Vermisso states that she 鈥渋s without any doubt a student of unusual level of motivation, capability and academic integrity. She is very conscious of the value of research within both an academic environment and a professional setting.鈥

The College for Design and Social Inquiry congratulates her on this prestigious honor and we wish her the best in her future!
