HIRING OWLS ACROSS ALL MAJORS: INTERNSHIP AND PART-TIME JOB FAIR

The is a dynamic, diverse, and integrated organization with a passion and commitment to support 大象传媒 students in preparing for life after college. Through their collective efforts and resources, the 大象传媒 Career Center鈥檚 main focus is to support all 大象传媒 students and alumni in developing essential career skills, experiences, and connections that will lead to a prosperous career. One of their top priorities is to build connections with employers in an effort to open doors for students across industries. These relationships have encouraged many employers to visit 大象传媒 campuses for career fairs, where they actively recruit and hire Owls from all majors.
Discovering one鈥檚 true passion and career path can be overwhelming when thinking about the future. Many students begin college with an undeclared major as they struggle to find their true passion, and even those who have decided on a major may not have much of an idea about which career opportunities are available in their field. Feeling undecided about majors and career paths is quite common among college students. In fact, more than half of all college students at one point during their college career. One great resource that can help 大象传媒 students explore career pathways based off personal interests is . This involves completing a career interest inventory and meeting with a career center expert who will discuss results and work with students to develop an academic plan that supports their career goals.
Jamila Avalon, the 大象传媒 Career Center鈥檚 internship and experiential learning coordinator, says that the best way to beat uncertainty is to . 鈥淚nternships allow students to get a first-hand experience on what the actual industry feels like,鈥 expressed Jamila. 鈥淚t is why every semester the Career Center encourages students to attend our Internship and Part-Time Job Fair at the beginning of the semester.鈥
Not sure what an internship looks like? The Career Center held a 鈥淏est Internship Contest鈥 on their page this summer and there were multiple submissions from all kinds of industries. From being an animal care intern who feeds dolphins, to working in Washington DC for the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
The winner for the summer internship contest was Quentin W. Jr., chosen for the most likes received for his submission. Quentin wrote 鈥渢his summer I was a Congressional Office Intern in Washington D.C. where I had many meetings with congressmen & women representing all over the country on topics where I advocated for policies to improve Higher Education and Civil Literacy. I also met with a US Federal Judge, and attended the Congressional Baseball Game with my Congressmen and staff.鈥

Interested in landing an internship for exposure and experience in your field? The Career Center will be hosting the this Thursday (08/29) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 90 employers will be attending and, so far, more than 700 students are registered to attend. This is one of the most popular career fairs of the semester, as many students are trying to find local jobs and internships during the first weeks of the semester.
