Schmidt College of Science to Host Annual Pre-Health Professions Week

The Charles E. Schmidt College of Science is preparing to host its 2025 Pre-Health Professions Week to provide students with opportunities to explore health-related graduate programs. The annual event will begin on Monday, March 31 and run through Friday, April 4. All events will be held on the Boca Raton campus and are free and open to all Florida Atlantic undergraduate and graduate students.

This year, the event鈥檚 theme will highlight health and wellness. On the first day, student organizations will work together on activities such as mental health, blood pressure and yoga, in addition to other events throughout the week. The schedule also includes panel discussions and workshops by pre-health profession admissions representatives.

鈥淲e look forward to this event year after year,鈥 said Gina Jones, director, Pre-Health Professions and Continuing Education, Schmidt College of Science. 鈥淥ur Pre-Health Professions team and student organizations are so involved in making the fair a success. The wonderful thing about Pre-Health Week is that we get to host so many programs from across the country.鈥澛

One of the largest events of the week is the Pre-Health Graduate and Professional School Fair, which will take place on Thursday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the Sanson Life Sciences Patio. More than 45 graduate programs will be represented, including medical, dental, pharmacy, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, chiropractic, veterinary medicine, optometry and more.

Twenty pre-health profession student organizations are collaborating with the Schmidt College of Science鈥檚 Office of Pre-Health Professions to provide informative workshops and activities for the fair. Some of the events include a suture workshop with the United States Army, medical student panel, physicians panel and an undergraduate research panel.聽

This year鈥檚 participating student organizations include the Pre-Dental Association, American Medical Student Association (AMSA), Future Health Professionals, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) , Pre-Student Osteopathic Medical Association (Pre-SOMA), American Medical Women鈥檚 Association (AMWA), Pre-Health Ambassadors (PHA), Students of Physical and Occupation Therapy (SPOT), Friends of MSF (M茅decins Sans Fronti猫res/Doctors Without Borders), Black Men in Medicine (BMM), National Society of Black Women in Medicine (NSBWM), Association of Pre-Physician Assistants (APPA), Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS), Pre-Physician Assistants (Pre-PA), Blood Pressure Screening Association (BPSA), Global Medical Brigade (GMB) and Pre-Optometry.
