The axis and spin direction of spiral galaxies are random. They are set by the initial rotation axis and rotation velocity of the gas cloud from which the galaxy formed.
My opinion is that this scenario is unrealistic within the next 100 years 鈥 maybe 500 years?
If you鈥檙e asking about life elsewhere in the universe, then I think it is very likely that we are not the only life in the universe. As you suggest, just given the large numbers of galaxies, stars and planets that likely exist out there, there must be life somewhere else besides Earth.
