What are modifications?

听Under Title IX, modifications are designed to prevent discrimination by ensuring an individual is able to continue their education and employment uninterrupted by pregnancy related conditions. Common modifications can include:听

Extensions on deadlines or opportunities to make-up assignments. Extra breaks to leave class or work to express or pump breast milk. Use of modified work equipment.听

How can employees access support? Contact Human Resources Employee Relations or Office of Civil Rights and Title IX (OCR9) for guidance.
How can students access support?

Contact their professors to discuss reasonable modifications.

Contact OCR9 if encountering problems

Contact Student Accessibility Services if accommodations due to a pregnancy related medical condition or disability is needed

Is childcare covered under Title IX? No, Title IX rights and protections do not include support or assistance with childcare. Students may contact the Dean of Students Office for information about available community resources.
Does the University maintain lactation rooms? Yes, lactation rooms are available for use on campus. For a listing of available locations, see the OCR9 webpage under Pregnancy Resources.听
