Nadine Cesaire
Nadine Cesaire is pursuing her passion for caring science in nursing.
Scheduled to graduate in July 2026, the Ph.D. nursing student hopes the degree will help her advocate for holistic health policies, mentor emerging scholars and collaborate with communities to implement, and evaluate wellness initiatives.
鈥淣ursing has always been a calling for me,鈥 Nadine shared, adding that her journey was inspired by her mother, also a nurse, who cared for her patients and those around her with compassion, strength, and dedication.听鈥淲atching her sparked my desire to make a meaningful impact in people鈥檚 lives through nursing,鈥 she said.
Nadine earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in nursing, as well as an MBA in International Business from 大象传媒. She later obtained a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Healthcare Systems Leadership from Chamberlain University and is dual-certified as a family nurse practitioner and a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.
鈥淒r. Sharon Rodriguez鈥檚 nurturing leadership at Chamberlain encouraged my academic excellence,鈥 Nadine said, 鈥淎nd now in my Ph.D. program at Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, Dr. Howard Butcher has been instrumental in supporting my vision for research, especially when others didn鈥檛 fully understand it.鈥
鈥淚鈥檝e been fortunate to have several mentors guide me through my nursing journey,鈥 she added.Nadine鈥檚 research explores the power of words, thoughts, and intention in healing, focusing on how affirmations can prevent relapse among individuals recovering from substance use disorders. By examining how affirmations enhance perceived power and self-efficacy, her work integrates various theories to explore the healing potential of words.
鈥淭his research could transform health care delivery,鈥 she explained. Affirmations, as an intentional use of language, represent a simple, cost-effective intervention for recovery programs and have broader applications in chronic illness management, mental health care, and patient empowerment. 听鈥淢y goal is to promote holistic, patient-centered care that fosters resilience and well-being,鈥 she noted.
鈥淎fter graduation, my focus will center on advancing holistic nursing through research, education, leadership and community engagement,鈥 Nadine stated.
The doctorate degree will position her as a leader in nursing science, enabling her to conduct interdisciplinary research on healing modalities, vibrational energy, and conscious living while securing funding for innovative studies.
Looking ahead, Nadine plans to develop and teach holistic nursing courses that blend traditional and integrative approaches, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and share findings globally through conferences and digital platforms.听
鈥淢y work aims to empower individuals and create more compassionate, effective care strategies,鈥 she said.
Nadine volunteers with Special Olympics鈥擧ealthy Athletes as a Clinical Director for Strong Minds and actively serves with the Miami Black Nurses Association, focusing on community outreach. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she partnered with the United Way and led a senior pandemic pen pals' program with students, fostering meaningful connections during a challenging time.
She has been the recipient of scholarships from the Sigma Phi Pi Chapter, the National Black Nurses Association, and the Miami Black Nurses Association.
