As part of 大象传媒鈥檚 ongoing commitment to campus safety, 大象传媒鈥檚 Police Department is launching 鈥湸笙蟠 Guardian,鈥 a free mobile app that turns any smartphone into a personal safety device. The app is a product of Rave Mobile Safety, a software company developing new technologies in public safety, and is available to students, faculty, and staff with a valid 大象传媒 email address.

鈥淭he safety of our students, faculty, and staff continues to be our top priority,鈥 said Sean Brammer, interim police chief of 大象传媒鈥檚 Police Department. 鈥淭his app is like having an emergency blue light at your fingertips, and we encourage the 大象传媒 community to download it.鈥

With 鈥湸笙蟠 Guardian,鈥 users can create a profile about themselves and invite family and friends to join their safety network. When needed, the user can request one or more of their 鈥済uardians鈥 to virtually walk with them on or off campus. If the user doesn鈥檛 make it to his or her destination on time, the 鈥済uardians鈥 will be alerted.

Another feature of the app is a panic button, which allows users to contact campus police immediately and shows police their current location. If users see something suspicious on campus, they can also use the app to send anonymous text messages and photos to police.
