´óÏó´«Ã½ High School M.D. Direct Program
The ´óÏó´«Ã½ High School M.D. Direct Program is a highly selective, collaborative program with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine for students who have a strong desire to pursue a career in medicine. Admitted students earn a B.A. or B.S. degree from ´óÏó´«Ã½, an approved 2-year M.S. degree from ´óÏó´«Ã½, and the M.D. degree from ´óÏó´«Ã½'s College of Medicine (´óÏó´«Ã½COM) in Boca Raton in seven or eight years. The College of Science and the College of Engineering and Computer Science may provide teaching or research assistantships to ´óÏó´«Ã½HS M.D. Direct students during enrollment in their master's programs, which includes a partial tuition waiver.
Admission is open to highly qualified ´óÏó´«Ã½ High School seniors, with preferential consideration given to National Merit Finalists and Scholars.
Program Expectations and Requirements
Minimum Eligibility Requirements to Apply
(subject to change):
- SAT score of 1490 or a minimum ACT composite of 33
- Weighted high school GPA of at least 4.30
- Experience with patient interaction – Highly recommended, but not required
- Research experience – Highly recommended, but not required
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident status
- Enroll as a full-time undergraduate student at ´óÏó´«Ã½ in Fall Term after high school graduation
- Complete bachelor’s degree at ´óÏó´«Ã½ no earlier than Fall Term after high school graduation
- If National Merit Scholarship Program Finalist, must report ´óÏó´«Ã½ as National Merit Scholarship Program Sponsor College First Choice
Application Requirements
- To be considered for the B.S./M.D. Program, you must submit your ´óÏó´«Ã½ application no later than 11:59 PM, EST on Monday, November 25, 2024 to ´óÏó´«Ã½ Undergraduate Admissions as a Freshmen/First Year Student.
*Applicants must apply for admission first, complete the Self-reported Student Academic Record (SSAR) and submit test scores. All of this must be done in your Future Owl portal. Once you have satisfied the minimum GPA and test score requirements, the BS/MD Supplemental Application becomes available on the same portal (Future Owl portal) where you have linked your SSAR and reported your test scores. (allow 24 hours from the time you self-report your grades via the SSAR). - A Curriculum Vitae (CV) from applicant must be emailed to faubsmdprograms@fau.edu. In the subject line type: CV-´óÏó´«Ã½ High Med Direct Program (Insert Applicant Name).
- One Letter of Recommendation (LOR) uploaded as a pdf file, from a counselor or high school teacher, must be sent by the letter writer to faubsmdprograms@fau.edu. In the subject line type: LOR- ´óÏó´«Ã½ High Med Direct Program (Insert Applicant Name).
- CV and LOR must be received no later than 11:59PM EST on Monday, December 2, 2024.
