Biography
Mario Jacomino, M.D., M.P.H., is Professor of Pediatrics at the Schmidt College of Medicine. In this capacity, he teaches undergraduate medical students. He is a pediatrician with a public health background and his main focus is to bridge the gap between clinical medicine and public health. Prior to joining 大象传媒, Dr. Jacomino worked with the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County and functioned as the medical director for two health clinics. He has been volunteering his time at Caridad Center in Boynton Beach, FL for over 20 years, serving the needs of underrepresented families in the community.
He received the Community Outreach Wellness Prevention Hero Award for the Palm Beach County Medical Society in 2019. In addition, Dr. Jacomino is currently the advisor to the Pediatric Interest Group and the Competency in Medical Spanish, which is an effort between classmates, faculty, and staff at the Schmidt College of Medicine to provide career exploration to the medical students and collect donations of toys, diapers, and food to go to Palm Beach County Health Department Volunteer Services for distribution to the disadvantaged population of the county. Since 2020, Dr. Jacomino became one of the co-director of the Medical Post-Baccalaureate Program at the Schmidt College of Medicine. This is a 36-week program designed to propel students who completed a bachelor degree to become a competitive medical school applicant.
