We are pleased to announce that two CEGE students received prestigious scholarships recognizing their academic excellence and research contributions.Ìý

Laura Rojas received a Scholarship Award from the Florida Section of the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA). Laura obtained her bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering (2023) and a master's degree in Civil Engineering (Water Resources and Environmental Engineering concentration area; 2024) both from ´óÏó´«Ã½. She is now a Ph.D. student in Transportation and Environmntal Engineering working under the supervision of Dr. Jahandar Lashaki, developing novel adsorbent materials for carbon dioxide capture from ambient air.

Shannon Egger received the Roy W. Likins Scholarship from the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Shannon obtained her bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering (2024) from ´óÏó´«Ã½. She was heavily involved in undergraduate research activities including (i) Watershed Master Planning Project under the supervision of Drs. Yong and Bloetscher, and (ii) Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Dr. Jahandar Lashaki's group working on the development of algae-derived adsorbent materials for phosphate removal from surface waters to prevent harmful algal blooms.
