����ý ELITE Student Named Okeechobee District Teacher of the Year

����ý student Kellyann Campbell earned District Teacher of the Year honors at the 2020-21 Okeechobee County Schools Employee Banquet. As a Yearling Middle School Math Instructional Coach, she has led the math department to the highest student proficiency rate over all other subjects. Kellyann is currently enrolled in an ����ý College of Education accelerated program titled Educational Leadership: Intern to Excellence (ELITE) which will make her eligible to apply for an Assistant Principal position in her school’s district after program completion in Dec. 2021.

“I am so humbled by being selected as the Okeechobee County District Teacher of the Year. I am looking forward to the journey, learning and growth that this opportunity provides. I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey, thus far, in ELITE,” said Kellyann Campbell. “ELITE has provided numerous learning opportunities and I am grateful for the relationships, learning and skills that I have gained. I am looking forward to the remainder of my courses and using the information learned to become a dedicated administrator. I plan to use this opportunity to spread my love, passion and values of education to teachers and students as often as possible.”

ELITE is a 22-month state approved Master’s Degree Program in Educational Leadership offered by ����ý College of Education. It is an accelerated partnership program that includes district specific professional development for school leaders. Students in ELITE are mentored by their school principals who support them throughout their coursework and internship activities. This design allows students to develop professional relationships with leaders across their district.

“I am proud of Kellyann for being selected as Okeechobee County Schools District Teacher of the Year. She is currently one of our outstanding ELITE participants and is constantly demonstrating highly effective traits of a teacher leader and future school administrator,” said Taka Mays, Ed.D., ELITE program coordinator. “Kellyann is so deserving of this award and I wish her the best through the remainder of the ELITE program and in her pursuit of educational leadership!”

St. Lucie Public Schools, in partnership with Martin County School District and ����ý’s Department of Educational Leadership and Research Methodology (ELRM), collaborated to develop the ELITE—Educational Leadership: Intern to Excellence Partnership Program. Okeechobee County School District joined the ELITE partnership in the 2018-19 school year.
