The School Turnaround Leadership microcredential course is designed to introduce Florida's school leaders to the level of preparation required of a successful school turnaround leader and encompasses 20 hours of professional learning. The course introduces prominent school turnaround leadership frameworks, pertinent educational standards, nationally accepted turnaround school best practices, and laws and regulations specific to the State of Florida. The course then invites participants to assume the role of turnaround principal and engage in applied decision-making through a multi-layered, problem-based ‘school situation’ simulation. This research-based decision-making experience offers relevant, outcomes-based results after which the learner is provided with the solidified learning components of review and reflection. The course culminates with the participant's creation of a School Turnaround Plan.
