Over 700 Middle and High School students attend Mu Alpha Theta Math Competition on 大象传媒 Davie Campus

The 24th Annual Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Competition took place Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the 大象传媒 Davie Campus, hosting over 700 students from 28 middle and high schools throughout South Florida. The overall sweepstakes winners of the 28 schools were American Heritage High School Broward in first place; American Heritage High School Palm Beach in second place; and Doral Academy High School in third place.

Dr. Teresa Wilcox, Interim Dean of the and Richard Rovere, Director of Math Competition at American Heritage, served as the hosts of the festive afternoon awards ceremony were group and individual trophies were handed out for algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. Dr. Markus Schmidmeier, professor at 大象传媒鈥檚 Department of Mathematical Sciences, served once again as one of the key event organizers.

"The Florida Association of Mu Alpha Theta Regional math competition has taken place at the 大象传媒 Davie campus since 2015,鈥 said Rovere. 鈥淲hat makes the competition on 大象传媒鈥檚 Davie campus so special is the 大象传媒 staff that provides the best facility, tech support, security and assistance. For all students, with the exception of some 11th and 12th graders, 大象传媒 is the first college campus they have ever seen in person."
