Carol McGuirk


Carol McGuirk is one of the founding faculty of the SF/F concentration at 大象传媒. Professor McGuirk studies and teaches literary and cultural theory including animal rights, and contemporary British and U. S. science fiction. She is an editor of Science Fiction Studies and, with her fellow SFS editors, co-edited Wesleyan Anthology of Science Fiction (Wesleyan UP), one of the central textbooks for teaching SF at the university-level. "The Rediscovery of Cordwainer Smith," an extended essay on a neglected writer of the Cold War era, was shortlisted for the Pioneer Award (Science Fiction Research Association). In addition to her extensive work in SF, Professor McGuirk also is a noted scholar of Scottish studies including ballads and folk-song and seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth century British poetry.
